Beautiful Achill is a treat for the senses, leaving lasting memories!
At the Achill Experience, we are home to Mayo’s first and only aquarium which boasts 16 tanks, containing species local to Achill and Ireland, as well as a selection of tropical fish from as far as South America.
Maintained by our dedicated staff to the highest standard, each tank is presented in immaculate condition with fun themes such as our ship-wreck tanks which are sure to ignite your students’ interest and imagination.
Your fully guided tour will last approximately 45 minutes with plenty of time to get around each tank while learning interesting facts and the opportunity to ask your friendly guide plenty of questions.
Each tank is designed to allow for maximum observation. Our open-top tank contains all our largest species and is a favourite among pupils, while our clear-glass rockpool tank provides optimal viewing of the unique eco-systems within.

Deserted Village

While you are here, why not visit the Deserted Village, it’s the next stop past the aquarium and a must-see attraction! Learn about historical life in Achill. Teachers will gain valuable and engaging learning material for school projects.
Achill also has local cafes and restaurants to have your lunch after your busy morning or bring a packed lunch. Parking is widely available for coaches. Take in the stunning scenery all around. Ask about our Guided tour of the deserted village for your group for a one off fee of €45
Perhaps you participated in the Deserted Village tour the last time and want something different this time around. We can provide you with information on other exciting activities to avail of to enhance your tour, such as crazy-golf, water-sports and lots more!
Our aquarium can accommodate groups of up to 25 at a time in the aquarium with the option to split larger groups between the aquarium and visitor centre.
